What is the NOW Project?
The NOW Project is a movement within the Body of Grace Church to make room for more people to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. Knowing that He alone is the hope of the world, we as a church are committed to growing His Kingdom here on earth. We believe that one very effective way to share that hope is by bringing people together in one place where we can teach the Gospel. To do that, we need room for those people.
The vision of the NOW Project, making room for people to hear the gospel, is a vision that is fixed and unchanging. Everything else that falls under the NOW Project umbrella must work toward that vision, that unchanging goal.
The focus right now for the Project is a new worship facility on Robb Drive. Because we are near, at, and sometimes beyond capacity at our Grace services on Sunday morning (10:00 and 11:30), providing seats for people who are looking for Truth is essential. Without making room in those services, our growth is stunted and Kingdom work is compromised.
Through value engineering and redesign of the original proposed building, we are now within the “strike zone” of making this building a reality. We have worked hard with designers and contractors to shave significant costs while preserving the building function. (See design page for details.)
This building is still the goal, and direction that God seems to be leading us. We will pursue that goal with ferver, unless He reveals a different plan.
In May of 2007, we entered into a capital stewardship campaign to raise money for the NOW Project. That campaign came to a close at the end of May of this year. God allowed us to finish well, as we raised over $350,000 during that final push of the campaign, closing w/ total receipts of just over $5.5 million toward the goal.
In any economy, raising that kind of money through the sacrifice of God's people is a great work for the Kingdom. Thank you for allowing God to use you in this process. God knows your sacrifice.
Even more importantly, many people engaged with God in a new way and experienced newness in serving Him through the NOW Project. Lives changed. People grew closer to God. They learned how to give up something they love to give to something they love more. They learned how to let go of things temporal to invest in things that are
eternal. God did an amazing work during this three year process.
Surely, He is not finished...
As we lead into the next phase of this journey, we will continue to follow God's lead for next steps to make room for more people to hear the good news. Stay tuned. Details of what's next will come in Fall of 2010.
